This is a comment on MacManus's post titled "Search 2.0 what's next?"

most of what he describes is just minor innovations, sometimes not even that. Basically those are free market research for the big guys.
the next Google will take us by surprise. The service will be so good that it will be night and day compared to what we have today.
while I am not clear that there will ever be a next-Google, because it is impossible to predict an automatic way to do incredible things that for example the brain does, I am almost entirely sure that social search is taking the lead. By that I mean members of a "community" (I hate this word) answer problems asked by others : that happens in any message board and is by far the best search tool ever known.
